A couple of times a year, I teach a beginner’s level DSLR photography class through the arts council in Oxford, MS. It’s a ton of fun and I’m always grateful to meet some wonderful people in the community and pass along my knowledge.

Class Description

For April 2021, the class will meet almost entirely outdoors with social distancing and masks implemented as Covid precautions.

The class is a laid-back approach to improving your skills with a DSLR camera. All levels are welcome. For four weeks we’ll meet at various scenic/iconic locations around Oxford to practice photographing with a DSLR camera.

Short lessons at the beginning of each class will revolve around the basics of a DSLR (f-stop, ISO, & shutter speed), as well as other considerations like lighting and composition techniques. Lessons will be guided by what the students are interested in, and will also be tailored so as to be challenging for each student’s proficiency level. The balance of the class time will be spent photographing with guidance from the instructor, with plenty of time to ask questions and try new ideas.

The class is open to all ages, but kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
