If you could preserve the small moments of your family’s day that make life important and valuable, would you do it?

How would that look?

Photos should reflect more than just what you look like. They should reflect how your life feels: irreplaceable, beautiful, and full of love.

One of my few self-portraits that I actually like. (I am not a selfie-taking kind of girl.) I much prefer photographing others.

Hi, I’m Renee.

I’m the type of person who would put googly eyes all over the stuff in your fridge for your birthday.

I went through an Indie music phase in college. I can proudly say that I’ve recovered now. (Mostly.)

And a Friday night spent around a firepit with a bag of kettle cooked chips, a mug of chai tea, and a group of good friends is my idea of heaven.

My adorable-yet-cantankerous cat, Zilla, and I. My husband and I found her as a kitten in the woods near our house. We’ve been attached ever since!

I’ve never been a “sit here and smile pretty” kind of girl. Multiple yearbook photos from my elementary years can prove this: me donning a threadbare t-shirt that I loved along with a disheveled pony tail that said “heck yes, I went SO high on the swings today.”

But I’ve always had a love for truly authentic images.

You know the ones: photos that reel you in and make you feel what it was like to be there in that exact moment.

Those are the images I want of my own loved ones; therefore that’s what I want to create for you, too.

My quest in life is to find the authentic, beautiful moments of real family life in all their messy, hilarious, unscripted glory.

These parents totally dote over their little girl; it was so sweet to watch during their outdoor family documentary session near Oxford, MS.

Sessions with me are stress-free and laid back.

No uncomfortable poses or fake smiles here. All you have to do is focus on enjoying some quality time with those you love while participating in an activity you enjoy together (or just going about normal daily life!)

I do the rest! I come hang out with you for a while, and I patiently wait with my camera for your best moments to happen naturally.

After some time has passed: Voila! Unforgettable family photos. Simpler and more fun than brushing your own teeth. (Not simpler than brushing your child’s teeth, however…that crap is a battle. Every. Single. Time.)

Be included in the day-to-day photos with your family (instead of taking them)

Parents, particularly moms, are usually the ones making sure all of life’s special little moments get documented. Many times this means those moments aren’t documented with you in them.

Take a break from the documenting and allow me to capture all your best moments with your family so that when they look back, they can see you in the photos, too!

I’ll seek to truly understand your family’s story and capture the unscripted beauty within it.

Your real life isn’t posed or scripted. It is lived out, day to day, in small moments. I would love to come learn about your family’s real-life story and what makes you so amazing, and then we can craft a session that is unposed and unscripted, but still all about you.

Such a great father/son moment during this newborn session in North Mississippi!

Such a great father/son moment during this newborn session in North Mississippi!

I capture all of real-life’s best moments:

the laughter, the messes, the encouragement, the struggles, the triumphs, and of course the occasional tantrum when a certain someone is told “no”.

I’m a Family Documentary Photographer serving Oxford, Tupelo, and Starkville, Mississippi, and a couple times a year I’m in Asheville, North Carolina. I would love to preserve your family’s most authentic and beautiful moments. Drop me a line in the space below if you’d like me to join your family on one of your adventures!

All the best,

Renee
